The basics of magic

In this lesson, you'll not only learn how to tear paper, but also how to magically restore it as if nothing had happened.

Harlan Tarbell teaches the basic techniques and moves that make it possible—often seemingly off the cuff—to tear paper into small pieces that can be restored to their original shape in a flash. You'll learn the tools of the trade for wonderful effects, ideal for both parlor and stage magic.

In the Chinese Paper Mystery, as well as in the Hindu Paper-Tearing, a strip of tissue paper is used for magic. And if you wish, you can continue to use the recreated paper strip: In the Chinese wintertime, you can use it to create a "blizzard" as a final effect. Or, in Milady's Parisian Hat, you can transform the paper pieces into a decorative lady's hat.

Of course, the classic The Torn and Mended Napkin is also covered in detail.
