In this brochure, Dr. Jonathan Royle introduces you to his routines for a hypnosis show. This has nothing to do with actual hypnosis. It's a case of sham hypnosis, that is, trick hypnosis or hypnosis tricks based on psychological tricks, anatomical features, physics, and, in principle, very simple secrets.

Royle uses methods well-known among magicians, such as "stage whispering," which involves turning audience assistants into secret helpers through whispered influences during the show. And unlike Uri Geller , he makes no secret of the fact that he is also a magician himself.

All of the routines described come from Royle's practice. They have been an integral part of many other hypnosis shows around the world for decades, and when well-rehearsed, they are proven success factors.

From the table of contents:

  • Weak arm - Strong arm
  • Cold test
  • Strong Man Test
  • Whole-body rigidity
  • The torch trick
  • The human pincushion
  • The Arm Experiment
  • The eye test
  • Strong Woman Test A, B and C

  • The Weakness Test
  • Superhuman strength
  • Hypnotic Heat
  • Fixed to the wall
  • Fixed in the chair
  • The girl who can't be lifted
  • Lifting Version B
  • Broomstick Test 1 and 2

And this is what your audience experiences, for example, in the arm experiment:
A volunteer is randomly selected and brought onto the stage, where they sit at a table next to you. A second volunteer is chosen and seated at the table to act as an independent observer, closely following what is about to happen.
The first volunteer, as the test subject, is apparently put into a flash trance, and due to your hypnotic instructions, his hand appears to be glued to the table.
Apparently, you control his mind. When you point to his hand and raise your own high in the air, he simultaneously raises his arm, even though his eyes are tightly closed and he couldn't possibly see your sign. This process seems quite uncanny.
You remain in this position for a moment and then, again without saying a word, you move your arm down, and the volunteer puts his hand back on the table, where it once again seems to stick.
Now the second participant, as your helper, is asked to imitate you and point with his finger at the hand of the first volunteer, without saying anything, and then, if he wishes, to raise his hand.
Even though the test subject has their eyes tightly closed, they do exactly the same thing as the helper. They raise their arm high in the air at exactly the same time as their helper.
When your assistant lowers his arm again, the test subject does exactly the same thing, even though he cannot see anything and no one gives him any indication as to when which action will happen.
The test subject is now awakened from their trance and then both people are sent back into the audience to loud applause.

Dr. Jonathan Royle was born Alex William Smith in 1975 into a family of showmen and made his stage debut at the age of three as Flap the Clown in Gandey's Circus Royle.

This was the beginning of a meteoric, diverse, and successful career. Today, he is recognized as a world-leading expert in hypnosis, hypnotherapy, mental magic, and mind control. His followers admiringly call him (with a wink) "The Magical Guru."
