Square - classic - good!

You hand a spectator a small paper chessboard , the squares numbered 1-64. You briefly explain which moves a knight (the knight) is allowed to make in chess, and an age-old and much-discussed problem: "Is it possible to move the knight across a chessboard in such a way that it legally touches every square on the board, but not a square twice? "

Then turn away and ask the spectator to name any square as the starting square. Maximum concentration is now required!

You name the next square the knight should move to. And the next, and the next, and the next... - The spectator checks the legality of the moves, crossing them off one square at a time. (You can also demonstrate this with a flip chart, a procrastinator, or a whiteboard in a large circle!) -

In the end, the knight has actually touched all 64 squares only once, and all the squares have been crossed out! - You've truly earned the applause, and you can wipe the beads of sweat from your forehead.

The audience is convinced that you have accomplished a tremendous feat - but in fact it was very easy because you know the secret.

We provide you with material for approximately 10 performances. For additional performances, you can photocopy it yourself or scan it onto your computer and print it out.

The price is small - the effect, presented with the necessary dramaturgy, is huge!
