Zak Mirzadeh's Backstab has been on the market for a while now, but seems to be little known.
And this despite the fact that none other than David Blaine demonstrated the effect on television.
It's an incredible and very convincing version of card trumping. Your spectator chooses a card, which is shuffled back into the deck. The deck is placed on the table, and you take out a large knife. You use the knife to stab the deck, spearing an entire deck of cards. You can predict how many cards you'll spear, and of course, the chosen card is underneath the deck.
The effect is easy to perform. You'll receive the gimmick and access to the English-language instructions. You'll need to provide a knife yourself.

This happens:
Your spectator freely chooses a card and signs it with their signature. The card is returned to the deck, which is thoroughly shuffled. Now you stab the deck with your (unprepared) knife. You have a block of cards on the tip of your knife, which you can precisely determine (whether it's exactly 12, 13, 14... cards). So, you announce beforehand that the chosen card is in position 14, for example, and stab it into the deck, and there are exactly 13 cards hanging on the knife (shown individually!). Below that lies the spectator's chosen card.
Important to know:
- no duplicate cards
- any card can be selected
- no great dexterity required
