The "rabbit out of a top hat" is certainly the most famous of all magic tricks. However, it isn't performed as frequently these days as it once was. That can change if you follow Harlan Tarbell's teachings and put his suggestions into practice.
In Lesson 44, he describes various devices that allow you to make rabbits and pigeons appear and disappear. And, of course, Jim Sherman's version of the classic magic trick, "Rabbit Out of the Hat," is described in great detail. The beauty of this trick is that you don't necessarily need live animals for these effects; you can also use completely different objects.
In Lesson 45, Harlan Tarbell introduces you to three illusions that can be performed with relatively little effort. The first is ideal for a performance in front of children. Three children, dressed up in funny costumes, can participate and fool the audience.
The second illusion is suitable for an audience that knows each other. One person in this group disappears into a much too small box during the routine.
And thirdly, you will find the description of a ghost show, which as a “spiritualistic performance can be excellently staged either as an opening act or as the conclusion of a stage magic show.
