Phoenix Rope Trick | E. Voege

The performer calls a member of the audience onto the stage and gives them the end of a rope about 4 meters long to hold. The magician and the performer now pull firmly on the ends; it's a simple rope. Another audience member is then given a pair of scissors and asked to cut the rope roughly in half.

The magician and the performer now each hold approximately 2 meters of rope in their hands. The performer now ties two ends of the two ropes together and passes the free ends to the two performers, who now hold a taut rope with a knot in the middle.

On command, the performer then has the participants pull on the ends of the rope. The knot falls off, and the rope is whole again! Yes, the knot really does fall off, and the rope is whole again!

Note: The rope is actually cut by a spectator. The cut pieces are held far apart. After the ropes are knotted, the participants pull on the ends. The knot pops off, and the rope is whole again.
