The basics of magic

This lesson is, in a sense, a prologue to the entire "Tarbell Course in Magic." Harlan Tarbell shows the reader everything that lies along the path, how it can be mastered, and what can be achieved along this path.

Tarbell points to the top of the mountain as the goal, speaks of chance and fundamental principles, of a professional attitude and consistent practice. He points to the principle of simplicity in magic and naturalness in its presentation, as well as the importance of oral delivery. He speaks of influencing perceptions, distraction, the personality of the performer, the power of suggestion, and success.

Tarbell shows comprehensively and in a remarkable way, step by step, what is possible for the magician if he devotes himself seriously to these topics.
