Magic Christians JOHANN NEPOMUK HOFZINSER

NON PLUS ULTRA - Volume 1 The Magic of the 19th Century

What we know about Hofzinser so far is mainly thanks to Ottokar Fischer , who recorded his findings in the two books "Hofzinser's Card Arts" and "Hofzinsere's Magic Arts".

Now, however, a seemingly closed chapter in the history of magic is being reopened through groundbreaking discoveries. Through years of intensive and persistent research, Magic Christian has completely transformed our knowledge of Hofzinser by drawing on new sources. Given the wealth of material he presents us with over 1,400 pages, the picture painted by Ottokar Fischer is merely a pale shadow. For the first time, this master of parlor magic appears to us as a living person. Through numerous newly discovered documents, we get to know him as a magician, a poet, a music critic, a knowledgeable critic of his contemporary magic colleagues, and as a human being.

Magic Christian has not only discovered new material about Hofzinser and his life through systematic scouring of public archives, he has also reviewed and re-evaluated previously known material, and has correctly reproduced it for the first time, 90 and 50 years respectively, after its initial publication.

The individual volumes of this important work are presented in a corresponding format: they are printed on Gardapat paper in 28.5 x 20 cm and bound in blue princess linen, have colored endpapers, an inserted spine label and colored dust jackets.

Volume One: A detailed account of his life, his family, his secrets, and his ingenious magic tricks. 332 pages, 140 illustrations.
