The basics of magic
Silk scarves play an important role in magic—just like ropes, for example—and over time, an almost unfathomable number of tricks have been created using these colorful textiles. There's a reason for this: silk scarves have a very visual effect, they are easy to handle, take up a relatively large amount of space, but can be compressed very small. Magic performed with silk scarves has a sophisticated and classy feel.
That's why Harlan Tarbell dedicates a total of nine lessons to this topic, first teaching the basic grips and techniques and then describing tricks from his own practice and that of many famous magicians.
In Lesson 17 he covers classic magic tricks and introduces the reader to devices such as the cloth pull and the change bag.
