Tarbell Course in Magic - Volume 060 - Party Magic 1

For this lesson, Harlan Tarbell invited contributions from a number of well-known magicians. The result is a very impressive collection of very different routines, suitable for both small and large audiences. These effects use a wide variety of objects, including coins, balls, flowers, lemons, popcorn, and, of course, playing cards and handkerchiefs.

Audley Dunham makes coins disappear and a ping-pong ball levitate. Rufus Steele performs his signature trick, "A Flower for You," and Ed Reno makes a spectator's watch vanish and reappear at the root of a houseplant. Bert Douglas adapts Sid Lorraine's "The Wandering of a Lemon," and Leon Maguire contributes three ideas for the special use of a daily newspaper.

There are also surprises with playing cards by Martin Gardner, Carmen Damico, Stanley Jaks, Richard Himber , and Karrel Fox , as well as tricks with handkerchiefs by Tony Lopilato. Martin Gardner also explains the impromptu "wand through hat" trick, and Seymour Davis pierces a handkerchief with a wand. The fitting conclusion to this lesson is Max Malini's famous egg sack, now an absolute classic of magic and first explained in the Tarbell Course in Magic.
