This effect was developed and marketed by Jan's Mfg. in the 1970s . The idea is so ingenious that it's still highly effective and astonishing today. Viking Mfg. has now revived this effect and is very proud of it!
Below we describe George Robinson Jr.'s base effect, but we're sure you'll come up with more:
You show a longer and a shorter empty brass tube and ask a spectator to put a pencil stub or a similarly sized object into the shorter tube, close it, and return it to you.
In your hand, swap the shorter and longer tubes a few times, rotating them around each other. Finally, place the two tubes side by side on the table.
Remind the spectator that they put the pencil stub into the shorter tube and sealed it. Then ask them to open the shorter tube and remove the pencil stub. They will be amazed to see that the tube is empty!
However, if he now opens the longer tube, he will find the pencil stub there again…
Alternatively , the spectator could, for example, place a red pencil stub in the longer brass tube and a blue pencil stub in the shorter one. After a little hocus-pocus on your part, both pencil stubs will inexplicably swap places. The red one will end up in the shorter tube and the blue one in the longer one.
Included: 2 high-quality precision brass tubes with a special touch and snap closures, 2 differently colored pencil stubs, and complete German instructions. - The brass tubes are approximately 11.4 and 12.7 cm long, respectively.
