Effect : You place a small walnut box with a mahogany lid, a steel ball, and a playing or business card on the table. The audience sees a hole in the lid and bottom of the box through which the ball can be dropped. Point out that this would be impossible if you placed a playing card (or business card) inside the box. The audience is welcome to try it out for themselves. It really is impossible!

The magician displays a slim walnut box with a sliding lid. The box is handed out to a spectator for examination and when opened they find a regular playing card inside. The card is also examined before its replaced in the box and the lid is shut.
The spectator places a marble in the hole in the lid and slowly the marble visually melts through the card, eventually dropping out the bottom into his waiting hand! Immediately, the walnut box, marble and card may be examined.
