It's done: the attempt at a real biography, and that means it's not just about magic.
Reinhard Tröstler – Perkeo has been writing for as long as he can remember: his first newspaper as an elementary school student, another at high school, the next while serving in the Bundeswehr, then as a chess player, the club newspaper and the association publication "Schach in Baden," and finally, as a magician, an OZ newspaper and "Magic Test." For several years, he was a regular contributor to "Schachwoche," writing reviews and drawing cartoons.
He also writes satires and poems, fairy tales, documentaries and librettos, over 20 magic books in various formats and more than 30 paperbacks, 6 hardcovers and 3 loose-leaf works and was named “Writer of the Year” by the MZvD in 2004.
He corresponded with the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein about the non-existence of Husum. He applied to the German Sports Federation (DSB) for the admission of the "Art Seating Association" he founded and drafted competition rules. He corresponded with Loki Schmidt, the wife of the incumbent Chancellor; chess grandmaster Lothar Schmidt, owner of the Karl May publishing house; and Herbert Feuerstein (MAD) about his illustrated dictionary of chess, which was published as a book by Schmausverlag. He then wrote and illustrated a satirical dictionary about bears, which Eichborn Verlag published in five different editions with a total circulation of 30,000 copies.
He studied mathematics, physics, economics, computer science and geography, became a secondary school teacher, mentor, vice-principal, deputy headmaster and examination chairman and was part of the team of authors at Westermann Verlag in the creation of a new collection of formulas.
As an actor, he has performed in two amateur productions and at the Freiburg Theater. As a chess player, he has played more than 1,000 tournament games. As a perkeo, he has performed more than 1,000 times and is engaged as a seminar leader in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2002, after a stage competition, he was entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the "fastest mental calculator." In addition to numerous magic effects, he has created and produced seven different book tests and co-authored and produced two more.
In this book, the reader accompanies him through his life on 544 pages with numerous photos and documents, learning about all facets and the highlights of his effects creations. The table of contents gives an idea of the breadth of the book. It contains 50 detailed effects and routines. This may seem small given their scope, but these effects were carefully selected and deserve to be studied in depth. All have been reworked for this book and described in their final version, including a few previously unpublished ones.
