At the end of the 1960s, magician Otto Wessely set out to conquer the world's stages. In his book, he tells the ironic, witty, and unvarnished story of how he went from being a fairground performer (at the Vienna Prater) to becoming a global star. Otto Wessely offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the world's most famous variety theaters: Crazy Horse Paris, Olympia, Paris, Las Vegas, Tigerpalast, and others. Otto Wessely's life was accompanied by drug excesses and depression, which he ultimately mastered just as much as his art, with which he became one of the most sought-after acts in the world. The book is amusing and written with plenty of wit and irony. It was translated from the French by Sandra Clemens. His biography was published in France in 2010 under the title "Je suis une star comme tout le monde" and went through two editions. The German edition was revised by the author after the translation and added a new chapter.
