The book reflects the life of Herbert Siegbert Jaks , follows him, always briefly embedded in the events of the time, from stage to stage of life, shows the person, the graphic artist, the table magician and the mentalist, lets him have his say in his public and private letters, his descriptions of effects and thoughts and the comments of contemporary witnesses, repeatedly illustrated with well-known and unknown photos and documents.
The book presents Over 100 effects and routines, in their original form, in variations, and in afterthoughts . Some of them are never before published. For example, Werner Nussbaumer describes for the first time an effect he developed together with Jaks in Vaduz.
The book moves from inaccurate descriptions of effects to various myths, although there are, of course, still dark nooks and crannies that will likely never be illuminated again. (And that's a good thing.)
